Marvin
Elwin Mosier, son of Wesley Franklin Mosier and Eliza Abigail
(Palmer) Mosier, was born June 16, 1914 on the family farm four
miles south of Davenport, Nebraska. He passed away on August 6,
2010 at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of
96 years, 1 month and 20 days. Marvin grew up on the family farm,
attended Happy Hollow country school and graduated from Davenport
High School in 1933. in 1938 he started farming on this own south
of Sedan, Nebraska. On May 20, 1939 he married Margie Nelson of
Sutton, Nebraska in Belleville, Kansas. In 1948 they moved to a
farm north of Sedan and lived there until they moved to Davenport
in 1977. In November 2008 they moved to Courtyard Terrace
Apartments in Hebron, Nebraska. Marvin joined Christ Lutheran
Church in Davenport in 1930, and served on the church council and
served as treasurer. He was on the Board of Directors of the Ong-Sedan
Farmer's Co-op for many years. Other memberships include Masonic
Lily Lodge #154, Eastern Start Chapel #268, and the Lion's Club
all of Davenport. Besides his farming, Marvin also enjoyed his
family, traveling with friends, going fishing and his garden.
He
was preceded in death by his parents: Wesley and Eliza Mosier;
half brothers: Arthur, Oscar and Edwin Mosier; Half sisters and
brother: Ida, Anna, Lucy, Fern and Bill Ensley; twin brother:
Melvin Mosier; and brothers: Kenneth and Charlie Mosier.
He is survived by his wife: Margie Mosier of Hebron, NE; children:
Marlys (Richard) Mello of Fall River, Massachusetts, Leanna
(James) Bounds of Corpus Christi, Texas, Wesley (Jan) Mosier of
Edgar, Nebraska, Wayne (Suzanne) Mosier of broken Arrow, Oklahoma,
and Julie Pace of Kearney, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren: David
Walker and wife Barbara of Fenton, Michigan, Duane Walker and wife
Janene of Fenton, Michigan, Debra Fordyce of Green Valley,
California, Phillip Mosier of Richmond, Virginia, Natasha Bounds
of Madison, Wisconsin, Alicia Chesser and husband Steve of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, Joshua Mosier and wife Nicole of Deshler, Nebraska, Ryan
Pace and wife Athena of Kearney, Nebraska, Amanda Amend and
husband Douglas of Kearney, Nebraska and Derrick Pace and wife
Audra of Grand Island, Nebraska; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great
great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August
11, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebraska with
Pastor Amy Krejcarek officiating. The congregation sang
"Amazing Grace" and "Precious Lord" with Debra
Johnson serving as organist. Marvin's grandson David Walker sang
"The Untitled Hymn". Interment services were held the
same day at 9:30 am at Davenport City Cemetery with Masonic
services by Lily Masonic Lodge #154 of Davenport. Pallbearers were
Marvin's grandchildren: David Walker, Duane Walker, Phillip
Mosier, Joshua Mosier, Ryan Pace, Derrick Pace, Debra Fordyce,
Natasha Bounds, Alicia Chesser and Amanda Amend. Memorials have
been established to the family's choice. Urbauer-Price Funeral
Home of Davenport, NE was in charge of arrangements.
